The Inventor

Tobin Risner, product inventor, is a self-employed business owner, husband, and father. He and his wife, who also owns a business, share in the care of their daughter, Roslyn. An important part of that care involves taking Roslyn out to explore the world around them on California’s beautiful Central Coast.

One day after walking the entire Bob Jones trail in Avila Beach, Tobin noticed he could no longer easily look over his right shoulder. It happened again the following week—neck and upper back pain. His immediate response was to search the Internet for every kind of jogging stroller extension accessory available…but nothing was what he needed.

The Idea

Tobin then constructed a prototype out of PVC pipe and attached it with hose clamps. It wasn’t pretty, but it worked.The handles made his strolls with Roslyn nicer and eliminated the upper body pain. The design needed improvement—specifically, it needed to be adjustable and fit through doorways!

The Solution

Tobin got some professional assistance from Lesco Automotive in San Luis Obispo, a machine shop specializing in race engine performance owned by Stephan Kennedy, and from an amazing mechanical engineer by the name of Greg Hamersly. Together, they created Healthy Handles as you see them today. Our top priority has always been safety, but now they happen to work great and look nice too!

The Company

Healthy Handles LLC was founded in October 2009, and is dedicated to producing Healthy Handles ergonomic jogging stroller extensions for as long as the market will bear.
